family trip to Banner Elk

This year marked our third annual pre-Christmas ski trip with the family, and while the boys only managed to hit the slopes for one day (although if you read my earlier post, you know they made it count with an epic 9 AM to midnight ski marathon!), we packed our trip with plenty of other adventures the whole family could enjoy. Even though we were only there for a few days, we made every moment count!

In addition to an unforgettable day at the Biltmore Estate and an action-packed time at Appalachian Ski Mountain, we explored so much more. We visited Mystery Hill, famous for its gravity-defying room (which was bizarre and made me feel totally dizzy—fun, but wow!). While there, we also tried our hand at axe throwing, rode mechanical bulls, and even mined for gems.

The excitement didn’t stop there! We went snow tubing at Hawksnest, zipped down the Alpine Mountain Coaster, and spent a cozy afternoon at the Omni Grove Park Inn. Lunch there was amazing, but the real star? The best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life.

Overall, our trip to Banner Elk was such a joy, made even better by staying at my grandparents’ beautiful snowy cabin. I’m so grateful for the memories we made together—it’s safe to say this tradition is one of my absolute favorites.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Here’s to making 2025 the best year yet! 😊
